
David Rex Guymon, 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 7, 2025, after a battle with dementia. Born on January 21, 1947, in Price, Utah, to Rex and Shirley Guymon, David lived a life filled with love, hard work, and unwavering faith.
David married Helen Pretiger on June 22, 1968, in Price, Utah. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and countless cherished memories. They raised three sons—Brent (married to Tabitha), Jason (married to Amy), and Jeremy—instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness, and integrity.
They shared a wonderful life together until Helen’s passing on November 17, 2010. Later, on December 22, 2011, David married Marianne Colvin in Hesperia, California, and they were sealed in the Newport Beach, California Temple. Marianne was kind and patient with David during their time together. David and Marianne moved from Price, Utah to Fort Thomas, Arizona, in 2017, and then to Stedman, North Carolina in 2023.
David had a deep love for sports, especially baseball. He not only played but also coached baseball at the College of Eastern Utah. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, riding horses, and rock collecting—hobbies that reflected his adventurous spirit. In addition to his love of sports, David was an avid reader with a large collection of books.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, David found great joy in the gospel and shared his testimony with those around him.
David was also a hardworking businessman, owning and operating Dave’s Steamway and Abby Carpet for many years. Additionally, he served his community as a school bus driver for the Carbon School District. Known for his strong opinions and sharp wit, David was always ready to offer his unfiltered advice—whether asked for or not.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Shirley Guymon; as well as his siblings, Bruce, Richard, and Max.
David is survived by his sons, Brent, Jason, and Jeremy; his grandchildren, Jasmine, Maxium, Cheyenne, and Bailey; and his beloved sisters, Kathryn and Eileen.
Funeral service, Friday, January 24, 2025, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home in Price where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Price City Cemetery.
