Officers from the East Carbon Police Department were called into action on Friday, Jan. 24 after reports of an alleged assault with a baseball bat occurred within the city. Police apprehended Bobby Green, age 54, in his residence on a charge of aggravated assault stemming from the alleged incident.

According to the arrest report for Green, a witness reported that,” a white van pulled to the curb behind the victim’s vehicle. When the van stopped the victim said to the witness something to the effect of ‘this guy is here to get me.’”

The witness dismissed this statement as a joke.

Green then exited the van and,” approached the victim’s driver door, opened it, then hit the victim in the head with a baseball bat. The witness indicated that after the first blow the suspect pulled the victim from the vehicle and struck him in the head again and the two men began struggling on the ground.”

The witness then got involved, approaching the scuffle and demanding the two men stop fighting. “The suspect acknowledged him, stopped attacking the victim, returned to the van and left.”

Police were able to track down Green to his residence, where the report indicates that he stated the injuries sustained by the victim occurred when,” the victim had fallen out of his truck and struck his head. The suspect allowed officers to look in the van, no baseball bat was found.”

Returning to the scene of the incident, officers verified that the conditions reported by Green such as ice and snow were not present in the area. Further analysis by the police found that the injuries sustained by the victim were,” consistent with being struck with a blunt object multiple times rather than a single fall,” according to the report.

Green was then arrested on a charge of aggravated assault and transported to jail.
