The Green River Pirates kept their streak alive on Tuesday as they traveled to face the Monticello Buckaroo. The Pirates have been riding an 11-game win streak lately, and when the final buzzer sounded, their streak had moved to 12 with a 69-45 win.

Green River is 14-5 overall and has a perfect 6-0 mark in region play. They also hold the No. 6 spot in the latest RPI ranking.

The Pirates were looking to end this one in the first half. They scored quickly and often in the opening period, outscoring the Buckaroo 21-12. After taking the lead in the first period, they maintained it going into the second, holding a 34-19 lead headed to halftime.

In the second half, it was more of the same, the same to be honest as the Pirates outscored Monticello in the third quarter by the same margin as the first 21-12 further distancing themselves 55-31 headed to the fourth quarter. In the final eight minutes, both teams played even. Still, the Pirates had already held the lead and were able to close out the Buckaroo 69-45 moving to 14-5 overall winning their 12th contest in a row and remaining unbeaten in Region 19 play.

Rolando Anguiano led the Pirates with 16, collecting five rebounds and an assist. Jason Hernandez scored 15 adding four rebounds and six assists, and Antonio Macias added 15 of his own with three rebounds, three assists, and a steal in the win.

On Friday they will welcome Whitehorse to Green River (8-8, No. 10). On January 3 the Pirates travel to face Whitehorse taking an 84-55 win.
