Nellene Parry Jones Heinz was born in Cedar City, Utah on November 15, 1937.  She is the daughter of Ed and Hilda Parry.

Nellene grew up in Cedar City with her five siblings, Jim, Carol, Don, Elaine, and Rodney.  She loved family, friends, neighbors, and planning parties.  She learned to work hard and make delicious meals from her parents.  She has many stories growing up with her siblings and admires and loves their families.

Nellene graduated from Cedar High School as well as the College of Southern Utah.  She wanted to be a teacher and moved to Logan to continue her education at Utah State University “Go Aggies”!  After graduation she accepted a contract to work in Blanding, Utah as the Home Economics Teacher at San Juan High School.  She often said that “Blanding didn’t need her, but she needed Blanding.”

Mom loved teaching in Blanding.  She also met and fell in love with LaMoyne Jones, son of Cardon and Hattie Jones.  LaMoyne and Nellene were married and sealed in the St. George, Utah Temple on September 22, 1961. Together they are the parents of Lisa (Jae) Price, Utah; LaNell, Price, Utah; Holly (Michael) Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Heidi (Justin) Lehi, Utah; and De (Barb) of Pocatello, Idaho.

They taught us to love Heavenly Father, take care of each other, work hard, and enjoy people.  That combination led to many family outings, parties, activities in our home and backyard, as well as group work projects bailing hay or moving sprinkler pipe at “the field”.

LaMoyne endured many health challenges and passed away in 1976 at the age of 39.

In the summer of 1978 Lyle Heinz invited Mom to go on a date.  His wife Helen had passed away in 1977.  Together, Lyle and Helen are the parents of Bruce (Beth) Rexburg, Idaho; Cathy (Dan) Rexburg, Idaho; Sherry (Robert) Cedar City, Utah; MiChelle (Deb) Cedar City, Utah; and Pam (Jim) Rexburg, Idaho.

On Wednesday, November 15, 1978, Lyle and Nellene were married in the Manti, Utah Temple.  The Heinzes and the Joneses became a family.

Mom and Dad made their home in Price, Utah.  Together they taught us to keep trying, watch BYU football games, forgive each other, be good neighbors, gather often, love each other, and learn and live the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mom and Dad served as missionaries in the Fiji Suva Mission 1996-1997.  They served for many years as Ordinance Workers in the Manti Utah Temple as well as volunteers in the St. George Utah Temple.  In their later years they spent winters in Santa Clara, Utah.  They are the grandparents of 38 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson.

Mom will be remembered for teaching us. She taught us to make cookies, plant beautiful flowers, pull weeds, watch ball games, serve others, sew, bake bread, pray, enjoy family history, play games, work on puzzles, decorate for holidays, and to have faith in Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and their plan for each of us.

Mom passed away on January 27, 2025 surrounded by love.  She was preceded in death by LaMoyne, her parents, Lyle, and Bruce.

We wish to express our profound gratitude for the staff and residents of the Heirloom Inn.  We express the same gratitude to the nurses and staff of Rocky Mountain Hospice.  Thanks to all of you for loving and caring for our Mom.
