Jeanette M. Potter, affectionately known as “Nettie” and “Foo,” passed away peacefully at her home in South Salt Lake, Utah, on January 14, 2025, with her devoted husband by her side.

Born on February 9, 1974, in Kanab, Utah, to Nancy J. and Carl D. Potter, Jeanette lived a life marked by passion, determination, and an unwavering commitment to her community.

Jeanette is survived by her beloved husband, John Wetzel of South Salt Lake; her stepdaughter, Jessica Erwin of Layton; her siblings, Donna (Ken) Harney, Carl Potter, and Carrie (Brian) Ferguson, all of Price; two cherished grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her fiancé, Shannon Shirley; and her aunt, Alice Dotti.

Jeanette’s dedication to making a difference in the lives of others was evident throughout her life. Her strong convictions and determination led her to run for city council—a testament to her desire to serve and improve her community. Her efforts earned the respect and admiration of those around her. Jeanette had a unique ability to bring people together with her bright personality and unwavering optimism. She was deeply loved by many friends whom she considered family and will be remembered for finding light even in the darkest moments.

A celebration of Jeanette’s life will be held at a later date. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May Jeanette’s legacy of strength and compassion continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in her journey.
