Coming off the emotional win on Senior Night last Thursday, the Lady Dinos traveled to Cedar City to face the Canyon View Falcons. Canyon View is one of the top programs in 3A sitting first in Region 12. Carbon struggled in the first half and tried to mount a fourth-quarter comeback falling 64-51.

On Thursday evening in front of the home crowd, the Lady Dinos collected a win on Senior Night over the Emery Spartans 60-54. With just one more game to go after the Canyon View game in the regular season, the Dinos need to come alive headed to the post-season.

The Falcons let the Lady Dinos know early who they were, putting up 27 in the first quarter outscoring Carbon by 17 moving to the second period. The Dinos would attempt to keep Canyon View in check scoring 12 and holding them to 16, but Canyon View still held the lead 43-22 at halftime.

Things slowed down in the second half with Canyon View playing at a slower pace than the first. The Falcons were still able to put up 12 in the quarter and the Dinos tried to cut into the lead as they would score 9. In the fourth Carbon came out as the aggressor both offensively and defensively putting up 20 in the quarter and holding the Falcons to nine, but Canyon View would still hold the lead, earning the win 64-51.

Bailey Curtis would lead the way for Carbon with 11. Bailey Johnson added 10 and Becca Swasey had seven in the loss.

The Lady Dinos sit at 6-16 overall and 4-9 in region play, and the RPI has been removed and won’t be visable until this Saturday when the  final ranking will be revealed as will the bracket for the State Tournament. The opening round will begin February 11 at home sites.

Thursday, Carbon will be on the road in Mount Pleasant to face the North Sanpete Hawks in the final game of the regular season. January 14 the Hawks came to Jurassic Park and were handed a 55-48 loss.
