USU Eastern secured a hard-fought 74-65 victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College, relying on efficient shooting and a strong defensive effort to maintain control throughout the game.
The Eagles set the tone early, building a seven-point lead by halftime. Behind a balanced offensive attack, they continued to apply pressure in the second half, fending off multiple runs from the Spartans. Sevastian Rosado played a key role, contributing 12 points while adding three assists and three steals. Ike Palmer was dominant inside, recording a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Mark Reichner provided a steady presence with 13 points on 50% shooting.
Eastern capitalized on turnovers, converting them into 30 points, a key difference in the game. Their perimeter shooting was also a factor, as they connected on 50% of their attempts from beyond the arc. Defensively, they forced 16 turnovers and recorded 11 steals, disrupting CNCC’s offensive rhythm.
For the visitors, Tyler Christensen led the way with 19 points, while Mitch Jeppesen added 12 and pulled down 11 rebounds. Despite their effort, CNCC struggled with efficiency, shooting just 37.9% from the field and 40% from the free-throw line.
The Eagles (12-10, 3-7) will remain at home as they face No. 1 Snow College (24-1, 10-0) on Thursday, February 13 at 7:00 p.m. inside the BDAC.
