As the Castle Country Area continues to grow, residents seek more entertainment options. The area’s newest business addition, Pin Heads, looks to quench the hunger for entertainment, becoming the newest bowling alley in Carbon County. Owners Elvis Sharp and Robin Boyd joined the KOAL newsroom to explain the genesis of their partnership, the opening process, and what’s coming up next for Pin Heads.

“For a long, long time, I ran movie theaters from chains like AMC and Cinemark, and I really enjoyed being in that industry, the atmosphere, and just having families come down there to watch movies and get together,” stated Sharp, explaining why he wanted to open a bowling alley,” it was just an exciting opportunity. We live here in the area and the community, and we saw that. And both Robin and I thought, ‘Hey, this would be a lot of fun, and it’s right up our alley.'”

Boyd added,” For us, it’s adding something to the area that we live in and love. And we’ve been here almost four years. We saw a need, and we wanted to make another avenue for people to come and have fun.”

The project began in June 2024, when the duo first acquired the alley. Boyd discussed the most rewarding part of the takeover: “So far, it’s meeting the people that we’ve had to come into contact with to get things done. Sometimes, getting these things done has been kind of a trial. But it’s gone pretty smoothly, I think.”

On the other side of the coin, Sharp spoke about the most challenging part of the endeavor: “I would say the majority of the challenges were licensing fees and just time frames and time constraints. Ensuring we had all our I’s dotted and our T’s crossed was definitely a challenge.” Boyd built on this statement,” finding people to come and do inspections, and just finding those little things that you didn’t see at first or they didn’t see at first that you need to take care of before you can open to the public and getting those done in a timely manner so that we can open.”

The biggest goal for the ownership team is to create a family-friendly environment for bowlers of all ages to enjoy. “We want to make sure that it’s an inviting environment, somewhere you want to take your kids and just a place of peace and enjoyment,” explained Sharp, adding,” We’re very big on customer service and making sure that our staff is always smiling and just really, I hate to say it this way, but a Disneyland experience.”

With the business celebrating its grand opening on Feb. 14, we asked Sharp and Boyd to envision what they want the future of Pin Heads to look like. “We want to do a lot of upgrades. Obviously, with that, there’s going to be an expense. But we want to make sure that the lanes, the equipment, and just the environment is modernized.”

In closing, Boyd shared,” We’d love to see you. This town is going to be an amazing place to grow a business. We’re inviting people from Castle Dale and Huntington and East Carbon and anybody who wants to come bowling with us. We’re happy to see all of you.”

Pin Heads is located at 1633 N Carbonville Road in Price. The alley is open seven days a week from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
