Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home, at the age of 82 on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025.
He was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1942 in Price, Utah to Delmar and Mary Powell, the best Christmas gift anyone could ask for.
He joined the Army at the age of 17 and served 4 years. As everyone knows, he never failed to express or show his love for this country. After serving, he met the love of his life Earlene Hales. They were married August 17, 1965 in Green River, Utah where they started their family together. Shortly after, they moved to Price, Utah.
He worked for a short time on the oil rig, and later worked for the railroad for almost 10 years. He then found his true passion working in the coal mines for over 17 years.
Wayne spent his spare time in the outdoors fishing, fly fishing, especially hunting, and camping. You could be sure he never missed a chance to watch a Western with a big cup of black coffee or giving out witty remarks. If you ever seen him out and about, you could be sure he was in his best dressed. He couldn’t leave the house without his cowboy boots, hat and bolo.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife that he loved dearly, Earlene Powell, Price; sister, Kathy Farnsworth; his children, Tracey Powell, Price; Janice Peters, Price; Cynthia Powell, Green River; Jimmy Powell, Salt Lake; and Kimburlee Powell, Price; grandchildren, Brittney (Booker) Erickson, Devon Powell, Autumn Gardner, Fawn (Talen) Steed, Jeremiah Noone, Hunter Powell, and Mason Powell; great grandchildren, Braxton, Blair, Eli and Haize; along with many nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
Preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Mary Powell; sister, Ruby Robinson and brother, Sam Powell.
