Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend and beloved neighbor, Deborah Brinkerhoff Smith, 74, passed away on February 21, 2025 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo.
She was born August 26, 1950 in Price, Utah to Edward James and Patricia Johansen Brinkerhoff.
On December 2, 1978, she married George Robert Smith in Lawrence, Utah; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on April 16, 1988. George preceded her in death on October 2, 2020.
Debbie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a lifelong resident of Emery County who graduated from Emery High in 1968 and later attended Utah State University where she received her bachelors in 1974. Debbie retired from Utah Department of Workforce Services where she was worked as a social worker in Carbon and Emery Counties for years.
She was an excellent seamstress who took great pride in making clothing for her family. She loved to cook, volunteer in 4-H and tend to her amazing garden. She loved caring for others, especially her beloved grandchildren. Debbie will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.
She is survived by one daughter and two sons, Heidi (Mark) Millerberg, Syracuse, Geoffrey (Hollie) Smith, Ferron, James Smith of Lawrence; brother, Paul (Diane) Brinkerhoff, Orangeville; sister, Edna Kay (Eddie) Fox, Lawrence; seven grandchildren, William (Kaylie) Smith, Nathanial Smith (Jenny Taylor), Aurora Smith, Lunden (Walter) Knudsen, Myken, Duncen and Talen Millerberg; two great-grandchildren, Arthur Smith and Elora Knudsen.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, and infant sisters, Sherry Ann and Jolene Brinkerhoff.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire staff at Parkdale Care Center. Mom truly loved everyone and thank you for making her stay a memorable one.
Graveside service, Thursday, February 27, 2025, 11:00 a.m., Huntington City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Miller’s Landing-Mitchell Funeral Home (123 North Main Street) in Huntington Thursday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. prior to graveside.
