Errors once again plagued the Carbon Dinos as the team slipped to 0-2 on the season with a 10-1 loss to the Uintah Utes Wednesday afternoon in Price.
The two teams played to a scoreless tie through the first two innings. Uintah broke through in the third, taking advantage of multiple errors to capture a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the half of the frame.
Carbon answered by scoring as junior Paxton Falk sent a sacrifice fly to right field. Logan Bennett crossed home plate, giving the Dinos its lone run for the game.
Uintah immediately responded, scoring one run in the top of the fourth inning. The game remained 5-1 until the seventh as the Utes plated five more runs to put the game out of reach.
Senior Stockton Kennedy tossed 3.2 innings, fanning six batters and allowing no runs. While the Utes scored five runs during Kennedy’s time, none were earned.
Paxton Falk and Mike Vigil pitched the final 3.1 innings, combining for two earned runs.
Tyrus Madsen delivered a solid performance at the plate, finishing 2-3 at the plate with two singles. Kennedy, Vigil, Rydge Butler and Logan Bennett all finished with one hit.
Wednesday’s loss dropped the Dinos to 0-2 on the season, following Monday’s setback to the Grand Red Devils.
Carbon will take the rest of the week off before returning to the field on Monday with a road game against the American Leadership Academy Eagles. The Dinos will then travel to St. George for a two-day stint March 14 and 15.
