The Dino baseball team was looking to get the first win of the season on Monday when they traveled to Spanish Fork to face American Leadership Academy. Coming off of back-to-back losses, Carbon finally got one in the win column with a 7-1 victory over the Eagles.

Coming off losses to Grand County and Uintah, the Dinos were searching for their first win of the 2025 season.

The contest with ALA got off to a quiet start. It remained scoreless until the top of the fourth, when Tyrus Madsen worked his way into a full count and sent a ground ball to left field, driving in Jakson Bosone. In the next at bat Paxton Falk hit a grounder toward third base and would reach on an error, scoring Madsen. Kanon Childs was up to the plate next and sent a fly ball to left, driving in Falk to take a 3-0 lead.

The Dinos would add another run in the top of the fifth when Mike Vigil grounded out, bringing Logan Bennett home. American Leadership would score their only run in the bottom half of the inning. But the Dinos went back to work in the sixth when Childs sent a fly ball to center field with one out and Maddex Willson would score. In the next at bat, Marcus Vigil scored on a passed ball, and then Childs would score when Rydge Butler sent a fly ball to right to push the score to 7-1 as Carbon would close the Eagles out earning their first win of the season.

Childs collected a pair of hits, two RBIs and scored a run. Madsen had a run, one hit and one RBI. Bennett and Willson collected a hit and a run, Mike Vigil collected an RBI, Marcus Vigil, Bosone, and Falk each scored a run, and Logan Madrigal earned a hit in the win.

Trevor Williams started on the mound, going four innings, giving up one hit and striking out six. Falk came in going three and surrendered one run on one hit while striking out two.

The Dinos will get back on the diamond on Friday when they travel to St. George for the two-day Pineview Tournament.
