As winter turns to spring, many feel the urge to declutter their homes or engage in other forms of spring cleaning. Recognizing this, Carbon County hosts an annual spring cleanup, offering residential customers free dumping at the Carbon County landfill. The 2025 rendition of the event runs for two weeks, starting on March 31 and ending on April 12.

Kourtney Cox from the county joined the KOAL newsroom to encourage residents to take advantage of this free dumping period.

“This is for free dumping at the Carbon County landfill; all landfill fees will be waived for all residents during this time.” Cox added,” This is residential only, but it’s a great time of year to get out there and get the yards cleaned up now that the snow’s melting off. You can take care of the things that piled up in the house over the winter. This gives everybody the opportunity to get that all loaded into a truck, into a trailer, bring it out to the landfill and spruce up Carbon County as we head into the summer.”

Typically, rates at the landfill are $5 per truck/trailer. Cox spoke on why it’s important for the county to offer events like this to support the community,” it’s a $5 landfill fee for most residential customers. And that can add up pretty quickly. So this makes it very accessible to anybody who’s trying to clean out a garage, clean out their home, clean off their property and be able to do so at a reasonable rate, because again, it’s going to be free during this time period.”

In closing, Cox said,” I hope you guys have a great day and that you take advantage of the annual spring cleanup.”

Carbon County’s annual spring cleanup will begin on Monday, March 31, and end on Saturday, April 12. The Carbon County Landfill, located at 2835 East Airport Road, is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
