With the end of the school year rapidly approaching, many high school seniors are searching for financial opportunities to help pay for college. On a local level, Eastern Utah Community Credit Union looks to aid in this process with its yearly scholarship for Utah State University Eastern. Dallan Ward from EUCCU joined the KOAL newsroom to speak on the credit union’s opportunity to give back.

“Our scholarship is going to be for our members as long as they’re attending USU Eastern full-time for the fall of 2025,” said Ward. “If you just go to our website, there should be a link for the scholarship that you can apply through. Also, if you follow our Facebook page, there will be links posted there as well.”

In addition to the scholarship, Ward covered the credit union’s “Make the Grade” program, which pays students for each “A” grade they receive. “It’s basically free money that you get for getting good grades. If you bring your report card to us and have an account here, we’ll deposit a dollar per A into your account for K-12 students. You’ll also be put in for a drawing at the end of the year.”

Discussing the importance of giving back to the community, Ward explained,” We’re community-based. We serve our members that are in our community, Price, Carbon, Emery, Grand, and Duchesne counties. So we really like to give back to our community,” adding,” They’re who keeps us in business.”

“We just hope to see you guys apply for the scholarship,” shared Ward. “Come in and bring your grades to us, and we can get you guys some extra money.”
