The Emery Spartans soccer squad welcomed the North Sanpete Hawks to Castle Dale for a rare Monday contest. Still sitting with one victory in the win column, Emery struggled to find offense and fell 2-1.
The loss drops the Spartans to 1-5 this season and 0-4 in Region 12 play. With the spring sports season so compact, Emery only has one more non-region game on the schedule with Grand, set for April 1. The initial RPI for soccer will be released on April 4.
North Sanpete entered the game 0-3, which meant they were still searching for their first win of the season. The Hawks found the back of the net twice in the game, and Emery’s Seth Winter put one through the pipes, scoring the Spartan’s only goal in the 2-1 loss.
Emery has two more chances to add another win to its total this week. On Wednesday, they will welcome the Canyon View Falcons to Castle Dale. In their two meetings last year, Emery came away victorious in both. Then, on Friday, they welcome the Juab Wasps to Castle Dale. These two teams met up three times last season, and Juab won in all three.
Both games are set for a 4:00 p.m. start.
