On Wednesday, the Lady Dinos softball team welcomed the North Sanpete Hawks to Price. The game was scheduled to be played in Mount Pleasant but was moved to Price. The contest started quietly, but the Hawks came alive in the fourth and never looked back, handing Carbon a 7-0 loss.
The weather really wreaked havoc on the local sports schedule this week. Carbon was set to face Canyon View on Tuesday, but that game was rescheduled to March 27. Carbon’s game was scheduled as a home game for North Sanpete in Mount Pleasant, but the venue had to be changed, and now the Lady Dinos will travel to face the Hawks on April 8. The loss drops Carbon to 1-6 overall and keeps them looking for that first Region 12 win this season.
Neither team was looking to make waves early. North Sanpete finally got three runs on the board in the fourth, taking a 3-0 lead. Carbon continued to struggle throughout the contest, collecting just three hits. North Sanpete would plate a total of four more runs in the final three innings, taking the 7-0 win.
Aleece Ardohain, Brailee Peterson, and Shayla Penovich all had a hit in the game.
Danica Adams took the complete-game loss, giving up seven earned on 12 hits and collecting 16 strikeouts.
The Lady Dinos will be in Manti on Friday to take on the Templars. Last season, Carbon won both meetings. They will return home on Tuesday, March 25, to face the Richfield Wildcats.
