
Emery softball hit the diamond for the first time since Thursday, March 15. They were scheduled to face Juab on March 18, but that game has been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on April 11. Thursday, they welcomed the Manti Templars to Castle Dale. The Lady Spartans had a huge third inning to put the game out of reach for Manti, as Emery earned an 11-2 win.
The Lady Spartans sit at 4-5 overall and 3-0 in region play. We will find out how they stack up against the rest of the field on April 3, when the initial RPI is released.
Emery was ahead 3-0 going into the bottom of the third when the bats came alive. The Lady Spartans got to work, putting up six runs in the inning, taking a commanding 9-0 lead. Manti came out in the top of the fourth, adding a pair of runs. Emery added one more in the bottom of the frame and then shut down the Templars for the rest of the game to take a 10-2 win.
Tailynn Minchey went 4-4 with a run and an RBI. Elly Stilson went 2-3, scoring a pair of runs. Five other Lady Spartans collected one hit, as Emery had 11 total hits in the contest.
Rheagan Rhoten got the start going three innings and struck out one. Kallee Lake closed the game and gave up two runs, one earned, on three hits and striking out four.
Emery will head back to the diamond on Friday to face Delta.
