
The Dinos traveled to Mount Pleasant on Friday afternoon to take on the North Sanpete Hawks. On Wednesday in Price, Carbon was shut out by North Sanpete, and then on Thursday, they were handed a 16-1 loss by 5A Salem Hills. The Dinos needed to get back on track, and they did that with an 11-4 win.
Carbon had lost three straight to North Sanpete, which dates back to the playoffs last season. On Friday, they broke that streak in a big way.
The first two innings were scoreless for both squads, but it wasn’t until the top of the third that the Dinos scored two runs. Carbon held that lead until the bottom of the fifth when North Sanpete rallied to take the lead 4-2.
At the top of the sixth, Carbon exploded, adding eight runs to take a commanding 10-4 lead. The Dinos used a combination of their pitching and defense in the field; they once again held North Sanpete off the scoreboard and added one more run to take the 11-4 win,, moving them to 3-7 overall and 1-1 in region play.
Kanyon Grant went 2-4 in the game with a pair of RBIs and one run scored. Logan Bennett was 2-3 with a pair of runs scored and one RBI.
Paxton Falk got the start and went four innings, giving up four earned on seven hits and struck out four. Mike Vigil came in to close the game, going three with no runs and no hits, and struck out one.
The Dinos will be back on the diamond on Tuesday for the first of three games in the week.
Delta comes to town on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they will head to Roosevelt to take on the Union Cougars, and then they will face the Rabbits once again on Friday in Delta.
