On Friday, the Carbon Dino softball team traveled to Manti to face the Templars. The Lady Dinos struggled on offense, and Manti went on to win 9-0.
The loss slides Carbon to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in Region 12 play. The Lady Dinos are a relatively young team, with just two seniors on the roster, and are using this time to build up the team and make a run toward the playoffs.
The first few innings of the game were pretty uneventful. The Templars scored a single run in the second and another in the fourth, but it was the sixth where Manti did their damage, adding seven runs to take a commanding 9-0 lead and earn the win.
Carbon collected five hits in the game. Alexa Jones went 2-3, Andee Wood was 1-3, and Kadence Vea and Danica Adams each had one hit.
Adams pitched the complete game, giving up nine runs, one earned on eight hits with 10 strikeouts.
Carbon has a three-game home stand this week, starting on Tuesday when the Richfield Wildcats visit Price for the first of two regular-season meetings. Moving to Thursday, the Canyon View Falcons will be in Price. They will close out the week on Friday as the Juab Wasps make their way to town.
The first pitch for all games is set for 3:30 p.m..
