Lady Spartan Addy Guymon had herself a day at the Pine View Invitational in St. George over the weekend. Guymon claimed the 3A state record in the 3200 and school records in the 800 and 1600 meters. The Emery girl’s team earned a second-place finish out of 44 teams.
Host school Pine View took the top spot with 77 points; Emery was close behind with 62. Snow Canyon (58), Mountain Ridge (45), and Park City (36) rounded out the top five.
Guymon earned first place in the 3200 meters, setting a 3A State Record with her time of 10:26.15. This is a full nine seconds faster than Ogden’s Sarah Feeny, who posted her time of 10:35.68 in 2013. Gentry Christiansen finished the race in third.
Guymon added two school records to her day. In the 800 meters, she earned a third-place finish with a time of 2:13.98, just off of the 3A State Record of 2:11.92. Christiansen finished right behind her in fourth. Guymon finished second in the 1600, setting another school record by turning in a time of 4:50.86, falling just short of the State Record of 4:50.04. Christiansen finished third in the race.
Skylee Guymon earned three top finishes for the Lady Spartans. Taking second place in the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 15.18, seconds off the pace set by Tia Brown of Snow Canyon, and her first-place time of 14.59. Guymon would also finish in third place in the 300-meter hurdles and seventh in the 400 meters.
The Spartans will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Timpanogos High School for the Alpha Invitational.
