On Sunday, March 23, smoke filled the skies of Green River, Utah, due to a fire at the Green River Inn Apartments. Working quickly, first responders from the Green River Fire Department, Green River EMS and Emery Fire were able to quench the inferno, leaving the scene with no injuries.
The call regarding the fire was placed at approximately 8 a.m. by an Emery County Sheriff’s Office deputy, reporting smoke coming from the apartment complex. GRFD responded quickly to this report thanks to a bit of luck. In a statement released to Castle Country Radio by the fire department, the organization explained,” Green River’s coverage area is larger so we pride ourselves in always being ready for the call to minimize response times.” Adding,” Coincidentally, this apartment structure neighbors the Green River Public Safety Building which allowed us to further expedite our response to the fire.”
“We are very pleased to report that because of the quick action by our Deputy and the quick response of both fire departments and EMS, no one was injured,” reads a release from ECSO. “As always, our Dispatch Center did a great job coordinating what could have been chaos.”
Green River is 60 miles away from its closest neighbor in the county, the town of Emery. Despite this great divide, the two towns readily share resources.” Even with the distance, they are always energetic to travel over and offer us assistance when needed,” explained GRFD.
ECSO added,” We find it very comforting that there are people in our communities that are ready to jump out of bed on a Sunday morning and put themselves in danger to serve and protect us. Thank you, Green River Fire, Green River EMS, and Emery Fire!”
The State Fire Marshal is still investigating the cause of the fire. Castle Country Radio will provide updates as they become available.
