The Carbon Dinos are getting back to their winning ways on the diamond. The Dinos suffered some tough losses at the beginning of the season, but are starting to get things figured out, and it showed with their win over Delta 4-2.
Carbon had a string of tough losses to start the season, but last Friday, they earned their first region win, an impressive 11-4 victory over North Sanpete. Tuesday, they were on track to win a home win over Delta.
Carbon got on the board quickly in the bottom of the first off a Kanon Childs single to left that drove in Rydge Butler, and then Mike Vigil would score on a passed ball to give the Dinos a 2-1 lead. The Dinos plated two more runs in the bottom of the third as Madsen would tag up on a Childs fly out, and Kaeden Sandoval added another from a Logan Madrigal double. The Rabbits added two runs in the top of the fifth, but the Dinos played error-free baseball to maintain their lead and preserve the win.
Madsen and Vigil both went 1-3, and each scored one run. Logan Madrigal was 1-3 with an RBI. Childs went 1-3 and added two RBIs in the win for Carbon.
Maddex Willson got the start, going 4.1 innings, giving up two earned runs on three hits while striking out seven. Stockton Kennedy entered the game going 2.2 innings, surrendering a hit and striking out four.
Carbon moves to 4-7 overall and 2-1 in Region 12 play.
On Wednesday, they will return to the diamond when they travel to Roosevelt to face the Union Cougars.
