Lady Dinos softball was back on the field on Tuesday when the Richfield Wildcats came to Price. Carbon used big first and third innings, and then got behind Danica Adams and the defense, who brought home the win, 10-1.
Carbon is 2-7 overall and 1-3 in Region 12 play. This week, they have region match-ups with Canyon View and Juab before heading to Richfield on Saturday for a one-day tournament. There, they will face teams from Beaver, San Juan, and Juan Diego Catholic.
In the contest with Richfield, the Lady Dinos collected four runs in the bottom of the first inning when Kadence Vea hit a line drive to center field, and Aleece Ardohain would score on an error. The next batter-up was Danica Adams, who grounded out to short, which gave Alexa Jones a chance to score. Sage Vea popped out to center and, after tagging up Brailee Peterson, crossed home plate, and then Kennlee Kennedy sent a grounder to left before she could be called out at second, Kadence Vea would score.
Carbon would wait until the bottom of the third to go off on offense again, scoring four more runs in a rally with two outs to put the score at 8-0. The Wildacats added their lone run in the top of the fourth. The Lady Dinos found two more runs again with a pair of outs on the board when Andee Wood sent a triple to right field, scoring Kennedy from first. Ardohain added a single to her statline on a runner to center as Wood crossed the plate to get the score to 10-1. After that, it was up to Carbon’s defense, which played error-free to get the win.
Kennedy had a day going 3-3 with three RBIs and scored two for Carbon. Peterson went 2-3 while scoring two, and Wood went 2-3 with two RBIs and one run scored in the win.
Adams earned the complete game win, giving up just the one earned run on seven hits while striking out 13.
