On Wednesday, the Lady Dinos golf team welcomed the region to the Carbon Country Club. Taking place on their home course has its advantages, but unfortunately, the Richfield Wildcats are an unstoppable force through three matches this season, claiming the top spot. Carbon earned a third-place finish.
Richfield is sitting at 1058 strokes through three matches, holding a lead of over 100 strokes on Juab. The Wildcats shot a team total of 345 on Wednesday, followed by Juab and their 386. Carbon finished third with a 424, North Sanpete (451), and Manti (465) rounded out the top five. Delta, Canyon View, and Emery also participated. Richfield’s Shelby Gardner had the low round of the day with 78.
Carley West again led the way for the Lady Dinos with a 91. Kaylynn Black carded a 97, Leah Sweeney shot a 117, and Lisa King rounded out the scoring four for Carbon with a 119. Kaycee Richardson (121), Yo’sea Romo (138), Sarah Lasso (140), and Allea Romo (143) also took part for the Dinos.
Next week, the team will travel to Richfield to face the Cove View Golf Course, a relatively flat course that plays long. With hole No. 3, which plays 450 from the red tees, and a 448-yard No. 11, it will take long drives to score well on this course.
