The Carbon Dino boys’ volleyball team won its third consecutive match and fifth in the last six, defeating the Juab Wasps on Thursday. Carbon controlled the hard-fought match, coming away with the straight set win.

Coming off a very successful outing at a tournament last weekend at American Heritage, where they claimed first place, going 3-2,  with a straight set win over Vanguard Academy in the Championship game, they followed that up with a loss on the road to American Heritage. Still, they then rattled off wins over Providence Hall and Juan Diego Catholic.

On Thursday in Nephi, the Dinos found themselves in a battle from the beginning, fighting with the Wasps, but they came up with the win in set one, 26-24. Both teams came out swinging again in the second set, but the Dinos again prevailed by the same score, 26-24. In the third and final set, Carbon overpowered the Wasps to get the 25-15 win, taking the straight set match win 3-0.

Charles Tima had 16 digs, 11 kills, and a pair of blocks. Evan Lancaster collected 14 digs, nine kills, four assists, and three blocks. Kyler Orth had 11 digs, seven kills, and three blocks, and Carter Warburton had 23 digs.

Carbon moves to 7-5 overall and 4-2 in region play. They will take off for the Spring Break holiday and return to the court on Tuesday, April 8, when they face Wasatch Academy in Price.
