The Lady Dinos softball team was coming off a region win on Tuesday and was still riding that momentum on Thursday when the Canyon View Falcons came to Price. Carbon used a four-run fourth inning to take the lead and fought off a Falcon rally late to take the 9-3 win.
On Tuesday, Carbon handed the Richfield Wildcats a 10-1 loss to earn their first region win. On Thursday, they were looking for region win number two against Canyon View.
The Lady Dinos jumped out in the first inning to take a quick 2-0 lead, but then the Carbon bats would go quiet for two innings. The fourth inning is where the Dinos did some damage.
With two outs, Kennlee Kennedy sent a line drive single to center, bringing in Lacie Gregersen from second. Aleece Ardohain came up to the plate, sending one to center, scoring Sage Vea and Kennedy to put the score at 5-0, but they weren’t done yet because Ardohain scored on a wild pitch and moved the score to 6-0 after four.
Canyon View added a pair of runs in the fifth and another in the top of the sixth, and Carbon came up in the bottom of the frame and added three more runs. A double from the bat of Ardohain drove in Gregerson, and then with two outs, a Brailee Peterson double drove in Ardohain and Alexa Jones to put the score at 9-3. The Lady Dinos would hold the Falcons off the board to take the win, moving to 3-7 overall this season.
Kennedy had a day for the Dinos, going 3-3 with a run and an RBI. Ardohain also put on a clinic, going 3-4 with three runs and three RBIs. Peterson was 2-4 with three RBIs, and Jones went 2-4 at the plate with two runs scored.
Danica Adams has been a steady force for Carbon as she once again got the complete game win. She gave up three runs, one earned, on six hits and struck out a dozen.
Carbon is back on the diamond Friday when they face the Juab Wasps at home.
Game time is set for 3:30 p.m..
