The Lady Dinos had a busy weekend, playing four games in two days. On Friday, they faced Juab at home in a region tilt, taking a 5-0 win. Then, on Saturday, they traveled to Richfield to participate in a one-day tournament, playing three games. They lost games to Beaver and Juan Diego and won in a battle with San Juan.

On Friday, the Juab Wasps visited Price for the first of two region meetings with the Lady Dinos. Last season, Carbon won both meetings. The Lady Dinos would blank the Wasps 5-0 for the win.

The Dinos scored single runs in the first three innings to get the 3-0 lead. Carbon would add two more runs in the bottom of the fifth and then hold on to close out the game, taking a 5-0 win.

Aleece Ardohain went 2-4 in the contest, adding two runs, Alexa Jones went 2-3, scoring two runs, and Kadence Vea was 1-3 with an RBI.

Danica Adams earned the complete game win, surrendering one hit and striking out 18.

On Saturday, the team headed to Richfield for a one-day tournament. They played three games and went 1-2.

In the first game, they faced the Beaver Beavers. The Lady Dinos couldn’t find any offense until the late innings and lost the contest 8-5.

Carbon was quiet early, but Beaver could plate all their runs before The Lady Dinos could get on the board in the top of the sixth.

With the bases loaded and no outs, Adams stepped into the batter’s box and sent a line drive to left, bringing Kadence Vea and Brailee Peterson home. Kennlee Kennedy smacked another single to center to load the bases Sienna Alderson hit a double to center that drove in Sage Vea and Harli Heugly home to cut the lead in half 8-4. Carbon added one more in the bottom of the seventh, but Beaver held on for the 8-5 win.

Adams went 3-4 with a pair of RBIs, Kennedy was 3-4 with one RBI, Peterson and Jones each went 3-4, with Peterson adding a run scored, and Sage Vea was 2-4 with a run in a game in which the Lady Dinos collected 15 hits.

Adams took the loss, giving up eight runs, five earned, on five hits and striking out 14.

Carbon faced San Juan in the next game. The Lady Dinos won 14-12 in a slugfest.

San Juan was the aggressor early, adding runs in the top of the first. The Lady Dinos countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to tie it up at 2-2. The Broncos tacked on three more in the second to take a 5-2 lead, but Carbon added two more, still trailing by one, 5-4. The third inning was where Carbon made some noise, adding five runs to take a 9-5 lead.

San Juan found their bats in the top of the fourth, adding five more to take the lead back 10-9, and then blanked the Dinos in the bottom of the inning. The Broncos added a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to take a 12-9 lead, leaving the Dinos with three outs to get a victory moving into the bottom of the frame.

With runners on first and third, Peterson singled to center, bringing Ardohain home, but the Lady Dinos were just getting started. Adams stepped up to the plate next with a line drive to left, scoring Jones from second. Two batters later, Kennedy stepped up to the plate, smacking a single to the third baseman, Peterson scored to bring the score to tie the score at 12-12. Heugly was up next, taking her third pitch and sending a ground ball to first, driving in Adams and Penovich to give the Dinos the win, 14-12.

Jones was 3-3 at the plate, scoring two runs. Kennedy went 3-4 with an RBI, Adams was 3-4 with three RBIs and a pair of runs, and Ardohain went 2-3, scoring four runs and collecting two RBIs in the Dino win.

Kadence Vea got the start, putting in four innings of work, giving up eight runs, three earned, on eight hits, and striking out one. Adams put in some work and surrendered two runs on one hit, striking out three.

In the final contest of what had to have been a long weekend, Carbon faced the Juan Diego Screaming Eagle. Juan Diego jumped out with eight runs in the first and never looked back, taking a 15-0 win in three innings.

Carbon had a rough time on offense in the contest, collecting just one hit. Defensively, they allowed 11 hits to Juan Diego, who took advantage with four doubles and a home run to hand the Lady Dinos a 15-0 loss.

Jones had the only hit in the Dino loss.

Sage Vea got the start and gave up eight runs, four earned, on four hits. Kadence Vea entered that game giving up seven runs, six earned, on seven hits, striking out one.

The Lady Dinos will take the Spring Break holiday and return to the diamond on April 8 when they travel to North Sanpete.
