On Friday, the Spartan soccer team welcomed the Carbon Dinos to Castle Dale for the second and final region meeting between the two teams in the regular season. Emery is still searching for their first league win, and unfortunately, Carbon took the contest, 7-0.

Emery has collected one win this season over Millard at a tournament in St. George. Having played all teams once, they begin battling through the second half of region play. Emery sits at 1-9 overall and 0-8 in conference play.

Carbon jumped out early in the contest, scoring five goals in the first half and taking a 5-0 lead at halftime. The Spartans regrouped for the second half but could not crack the Dinos’ defense, as Carbon added two more in the second half to take the 7-0 win.

Carbon moves to 7-1 overall and in Region 12 play, with their only loss coming from Manti.

Luke Brady scored four goals for the Dinos, and Tyler Morris and Logan McEvoy each added one goal and two assists. Lincoln Atwood added a goal, and Mason Engar added one assist in the Carbon win. Cannon Mortensen earned his sixth shutout of the season as well. Carbon will face Canyon View in Price on Wednesday. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.

Emery will be in action on Tuesday when they face Grand in Castle Dale.
