With great love and sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Elaine Cox Wilberg, 95, who passed away peacefully at the Heirloom Inn in Price, Utah on March 28, 2025.
She was born March 29, 1929, in Boneta, Utah to Edward Eugene and Emeline Amelia Sitterud Cox. She was the eighth of eight children. She had one sister, Karen Beth Brotherson and six brothers, Edward Dean Cox, Rex Eugene Cox, Kenneth S Cox, Zeniff J Cox, Carl Monte Cox, and Max Earl Cox. They moved to Castle Dale when she was very young.
She fell in love and married Wayne Ray Wilberg on September 16, 1949 in the Manti Utah Temple. They had four daughters.
In her younger years, she had many work experiences and was employed at Conover Drug Store, Utah Power & Light Company, and Koret of California. Most importantly, she was a very supportive wife working alongside her husband on the cattle ranch and farm. Family was everything to them and they instilled in their girls a strong work ethic.
As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully as a Relief Society President, as a Stake Relief Society Secretary, as a Primary Worker, and as a valiant visiting teacher. She also worked with the Young Women, and she loved to attend the temple. She made service both meaningful and joyful for all those around her. She had a deep and abiding testimony of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was a very talented homemaker and seamstress. Mom also enjoyed working in her yard; especially her beautiful rose garden. Her hands were never idle.
Elaine and Wayne were avid sports fans and followed and supported all of their grandchildren in all the events they were in. One year the high school gave them the “fans of the year” award.
She had very strong values and was liked by everyone. If you visited her home, you never left hungry. Food and treats and ice-cream was always offered.
She leaves behind a legacy cherished by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Ray Wilberg; her parents; seven siblings; and son-in-law, Reiner P Bradley.
She is survived by her four daughters, Teresa Bradley Sisk (Gary) of Idaho, Sandra Swasey (Merrill) of Castle Dale, Tammy Ray Merrell (Duane) of Payson, and Nadine Thompson (Les) of Castle Dale; 16 grandchildren, Shawn Paul Bradley, Tasha Lowe, Justin Bradley, Adrianne Shewell, Amber Williams, Natalie Johnson, Zachary Swasey, Rhett Swasey, Alexis Peacock, Levi Swasey, Blake Merrell, Tahna Gray, Wylee Merrell, Danee Alvey, Kelsey Thompson, and Kassidy Thompson; 48 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the administration and nursing staff at the Heirloom Inn Assisted Living for their loving care of our mother, as well as Tiana with Symbii, who was so sweet and tender with our mother.
