On Saturday, the Lady Spartan track squad was at Timpanogos High School for the Alpha Invitational. Skylee Guymon now owns the Emery High record in the 100-meter hurdles, a mark that had stood for 44 years. Thirty-seven teams participated in the meet, and the Emery girls finished ninth overall. The boy’s team didn’t attend the weekend.
American Fork grabbed the top spot with 57 points. Eagle, a high school in Idaho, finished in second with 52. Host Timpanogos took third with 43. Uintah (40) and Cyprus (36) rounded out the top five. Emery earned ninth with 30 points.
Skylee Guymon finished the 100-meter hurdles in 14.82 seconds, breaking the Emery High School record for 44 years. Guymon finished well ahead of Gabby Morfin of Cyprus, and her time of 15.52
Addy Guymon won the 1600 meters with her time of 5:02.05, eight full seconds ahead of Olympus’s Adria Favero. Gentry Christiansen finished the race in eighth. Addy Guymon would also finish third in the 400, and Christiansen finished eighth.
Emery will travel to Richfield for a meeting on Saturday.
