On Wednesday, the Dinos welcomed the Canyon View Falcons to Price for their second and final regular-season meeting. Carbon earned a season sweep of the Falcons with the 4-1 win, moving them to 8-1 this season.
Carbon holds an 8-1 overall record, and on Friday, the Utah High School Activities Association will release the first RPI of the season. These rankings will be updated throughout the rest of the season and used for seeding teams when the State Championships begin on April 25.
Both teams were looking for a win, and each found the back of the net once in the first half as the two teams went to halftime tied at 1-1. In the second half, Carbon would get more aggressive and break down the Falcons’ defense, scoring three goals in the half to hand Canyon View their third loss of the season, 4-1.
Mirza Atkas led the Dinos with two goals. Tyler Morris and Sam Dart each had a goal and an assist in the win.
Carbon will get a bit of a break now as they will not head back to the pitch until next Wednesday, April 9, when they will travel to Nephi to face the Juab Wasps. On March 14, the Wasps came to Price, and Carbon earned a 4-1 win. The Dinos won’t return home until April 16 when they welcome Richfield to Price.
