Last Thursday, the Emery track and field squads traveled to Richfield for the annual Nyle Norris Invite. The Lady Spartans finished sixth, while the boys placed ninth.

Host Richfield earned the top spot in the boys’ division with 141 points, South Sevier was second, scoring 81, San Juan, Delta, and Juab rounded out the top five, and Emery finished ninth with 5 points.

Devon Byars was the only individual to place in the top 10 with a ninth-place finish in the discus.

The team of Hunter Leffler, Dillon Larsen, Daxton Larsen, and Tage Jensen finished in fourth in the sprint medley relay.

The Richfield Wildcats took first on the girls’ side, with 168 points, and South Sevier finished in second with 95. North Sevier, Grand, and San Juan comprised the remaining top five. Emery landed in sixth with 37.5 points.

Skylee Guymon took a top spot, finishing the 100-meter hurdles in 15.16 and taking second in the 300-meter hurdles. Carlie Hurst finished in third in the 300. Molly Christiansen claimed three top-five finishes on the day: a third-place finish in the 400, a fifth-place finish in the 200, and an eighth-place finish in the 100. Hannah Farley turned in a tenth-place finish in the 1600.

Hallie Frandsen finished third in the high jump.

Coming up for the Spartans this Friday, they will be in Nephi to participate in a meet hosted by Juab.
