The Carbon boys’ volleyball squad has quietly put together a four-game win streak after Tuesday night’s win over Wastach Academy in front of the home crowd at Jurassic Park. The Dinos handed the Tigers a straight-set win to move to 8-5 overall this season.
Carbon has won six of its last seven contests, four of which were straight-set victories. On Saturday, the Utah High School Activities Association released its initial RPI, which had the Dinos at No. 6. They remain steady in the latest rankings.
On Tuesday night, Carbon came out firing in the first set and moved quickly to win 25-13. Wasatch Academy found a little more offense in the second set, but the Dinos were able to slow them down and get a 25-17 win. The third and final set was the closest of the match, as each team gave the other their best shot, but in the end, it was Carbon who came away with the 25-23 win to take the match 3-0.
Carter Warburton collected eight kills and three service aces for Carbon. Connor Gleeve had eight assists, Grant Mathis was huge getting seven service aces, and Kyler Orth had four kills in the win.
Carbon will be on the road starting Thursday when they travel to take on the Juan Diego Screaming Eagle in a region tilt. Back on March 25, the Dinos earned a 3-2 victory.
Then they will spend the rest of the weekend in Mount Pleasant for the North Sanpete Invitational, where they will play five matches in two days.
