004-22

On Tuesday, the Carbon Lady Dinos softball team won big over the No. 5 North Sanpete Hawks in Mount Pleasant. Carbon used a big third inning and got an excellent performance on the bump from Danica Adams to hold the Hawks to just one run on four hits to collect the 5-1 win.

The Dinos are 6-9 overall and hold the No. 9 spot in the latest RPI rankings, with 11 games left before the playoffs start on May 3.

Carbon and North Sanpete got off to a quiet start, with the game going scoreless through the first two innings, but the Lady Dinos found their bats in the third.

Aleece Ardohain walked to start the inning, and then Alexa Jones came to the plate, sending a single to third. She would make her way to second on an error, and Ardohain would score. Brailee Peterson approached the plate next, sending a ground ball to the pitcher and driving Jones home. Later in the inning, with two out, Kennlee Kennedy doubled to left to drive in Peterson and Danica Adams, pushing the score to 4-0.

North Sanpete added their only run in the bottom of the third. Carbon added their final run at the top of the fourth when Jones sent a ground ball to short, allowing Sienna Alderson to score and push the score to 5-1. Both teams went scoreless in the final three innings and held on to take a 5-1 win.

Jones was 1-2 with a run and an RBI for Carbon. Kennedy was 1-3 with a pair of RBIs, and Ardohain was 1-2 and scored a run.

Adams again had a fantastic performance with the complete game win, giving up one earned run on four hits and striking out 19 in the win.

The Lady Dinos return to work Wednesday when they welcome the No. 1 Duchesne Eagles in the 2A classification.
