Emery Spartan soccer was on the road in Cedar City on Friday to take on the No. 5 Canyon View Falcons. Still searching for their initial win in Region 12, the Spartans were unable to find the back of the net, dropping the contest 5-0.

Emery slides to 1-13 overall and 0-11 in league play. With three games to go in the regular season, it holds the No.17 spot in the latest RPI.

Emery has had its share of issues on the pitch this season, but the team continues to play hard for coach Troy Winter, who is in his 11th year leading the program. Canyon View came out firing early in the first half, putting three goals in the back of the net and taking the lead at halftime. They would break down the Spartans’ defense twice in the second half to earn the 5-0 win. The Falcons’ Brett Langston scored a pair of goals in the contest.

The Spartans have three games scheduled for next week. They will start on Monday when they face North Sanpete in a game that had to be rescheduled from April 2. Then, on Wednesday, they go back on the road again to face Juab.

The season’s final game will be a home game on Senior Night, Thursday, April 17, when they welcome the Richfield Wildcats to Castle Dale.

The game is scheduled to be played under the lights, starting at 7:00 p.m..
