On Friday, the Lady Dino softball squad made the long drive to Cedar City, looking to get the season sweep of the Canyon View Falcons. Carbon had issues on offense and gave up four runs on defense, taking the 4-1 loss, dropping to 6-11 overall.

The Dinos fall to 6-11 overall and 4-4 in Region 12 play; they sit in the No. 9 spot in the latest RPI with nine games to go before the playoffs start on May 3.

Carbon’s lone run came in the third inning when Sage Vea dug into the batter’s box with two outs and sent a pop fly single to center that allowed Brailee Peterson to score from second to give the Dinos a 1-0 lead. Canyon View added two in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the bottom of the sixth to get the score of 4-1. Canyon View’s Elli John got the start for the Falcons and gave up eight hits to the Dinos, but just the one earned run.

Danica Adams was 2-4 from the plate, Peterson went 1-3 with a run scored, and Vea was 1-4 with an RBI in the Carbon loss.

Adams got the start going seven innings with four earned runs on seven hits and struck out five.

Carbon will return to the diamond in Price on Tuesday when they face the Manti Templars (6-10, No. 10). The Lady Dinos will be looking to even the season series after taking a 9-0 loss on March 21.
