The Spartans were on the road Monday to face the North Sanpete Hawks in Mount Pleasant. The Spartans are looking for their first region win of the season. Emery kept things close in the first half, but North Sanpete would blow the game open in the second half to take a 7-1 win.

Emery is 1-14 overall and 0-12 in Region 12 play. The Spartans have two games left on the schedule and are ranked 17th in the latest RPI.

The Spartans held the Hawks defensively in the first half to just one goal, but in the second half, the floodgates opened for North Sanpete as they found the back of the net six times. The Spartans saw an opportunity in the second half to get a goal between the pipes, but the Hawks won the contest 7-1.

Emery has two contests left in the regular season, starting with Wednesday’s game against Juab on the road in Nephi. On March 21, the Wasps came to Castle Dale and took a 3-0 win over the Spartans.

The season will close on Thursday, when the Richfield Wildcats come to Castle Dale for senior night under the lights.
