
On Tuesday, the Carbon boys’ tennis squad traveled to Nephi to face the Juab Wasps. Juab has only lost two matches all season, and even though Carbon lost the contest 4-2, they were the most by any 3A team against the Wasps.
Carbon has a 5-7 overall record and is 3-2 in region play. They have just two matches left in the regular season. Then, they will participate in the Uintah Invitational before the Region 12 tournament. Juab’s only losses were against a team from 5A and 6A.
The two wins came from three-set matches in the first and third singles. Nicholas Bryner took three sets over Joel Covington, taking a win in set one 6-4 but falling in set two 6-2. After regrouping, Bryner returned and won a marathon match 7-6 (7-4). In third singles, Zander Carrillo defeated Mason Allred in three sets, 6-0, 1-6, and 6-4.
Carbon travels to Richfield on April 22 to take on the Wildcats, and they will have “Senior Night” the next day, April 23, when the Union Cougars come to Price.
