
The Emery Spartan track and field teams welcomed schools from the area to Castle Dale for the Darrell Gardner Invitational. The Lady Spartans finished in third place out of nine schools, and the boys earned a seventh-place finish out of 12 schools that participated.
North Summit finished first on the girls’ side with 153.0; Carbon landed in second with 117.5. Emery (102), Monticello (67.5), and North Sanpete (49.0) rounded out the top five.
Skylee Guymon ad another great outing gathering up three first place finishes starting with the 100-meter hurdles and her time of 14.74. She went on to take frst in the 200 as well with a time of 26.37, a race in which Molly Chritiansen finished fourth, and then in the 400 she grabbed the top spot with the time of 1:00.43, with Chritiansen taking fifth. In the 4×400, Guymon, Christiansen, Carlie Hurst and Kabree Gordon finished in third, Gordon also finished third in the 300-meter hurdles.
Alivia Daley finished in fifth place in the 1600. Dazi Thatcher threw for a first place finish in the shot put, and Aleeyah Cowley took third, and in the high jump Megan Stilson took first.
The Carbon boys earned first place in their division with 135 points, and North Summit took second with 110. North Sanpete (168), Bryce Valley (49.5), and Monticello (42.5) made up the top five. Eemry landed in seventh with 18.00 points.
In the high jump, Trek Petersen claimed a third place finish, and Jacob Erickson took fourth in the 3200. The Spartan relay team in the 4×100 finished the day in fourth.
Emery will be making the trip to Carbon High on Friday for the Eastern Utah Cahmpionships. Fifteen teams from around the are will take part in the event.
