On Tuesday, Carbon softball was on the road in Nephi to face the Juab Wasps. The Lady Dinos had big first, third, and sixth innings to win 14-3 in six innings.
Carbon moves to 8-14 overall and 5-6 in Region 12. They also hold the No. 9 spot in the latest RPI rankings.
The Lady Dinos got started in the first inning. With one out and the bases loaded, Danica Adams stepped up and sent a triple to deep right field that drove in Alexa Jones, Aleece Ardohain, and Kennlee Kennedy to give Carbon the 3-0 lead.
Moving into the third, Shayla Penovich came to the plate with the bases loaded and no outs, sending a line drive to right and driving in Kennedy to get the Dinos started. Two batters later, with one out, Kadence Vea brought home Harli Heugly with a single. This would begin a series of runs that wouldn’t stop until an Ardohain single that brought in Vea and put the score at 8-0.
In the fifth inning, Carbon collected two more runs when Ardohain sent a ground ball to third, and Jones scored on an error by the third baseman. Kennedy was up next and lined out to left, but Ardohain scored after tagging up to push the score to 10-1.
Moving to the top of the sixth, with the score 11-1, Ardohain stepped up to the plate, sending a triple to right field, driving home Jones, and Heugly scored. Ardohain would also score on the throw to push the score to 14-1. Juab could plate two runs in the bottom of the sixth, and that would do it as Carbon earned the win in six innings.
Ardohain was 3-5 with four RBIs and scored three runs. Adams went 2-4 with three RBIs, and Jones was 1-4 with three runs scored and a pair of RBIs in the win for the Lady Dinos.
Adams earned the complete game win, giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits and striking out 12.
Carbon returns to the diamond on Wednesday when it faces the Richfield Wildcats. The Lady Dinos won their first meeting 10-1.
