DevPipeline News Release
OREM, UTAH — April 24, 2025 — DevPipeline, a leading tech apprenticeship provider, today celebrated the graduation of its latest cohorts, announcing continued expansion of its innovative program designed to bridge the tech talent gap through practical, hands-on training and industry partnerships.
Pioneered by Jason Fletcher and Shayne Roy, DevPipeline, the only competency-based software developer registered apprenticeship in Utah, is changing lives! Graduates are demonstrating remarkable growth in technical skills and professional confidence.
“While tech companies face a skills gap, millions of hard-working people face an opportunity gap,” said Jason Fletcher, Co-founder of DevPipeline. “There is no shortage of talented people who want to retool, who want better careers, and better lives for themselves and their families. They just need realistic pathways to in-demand skills.”
The recent graduation ceremony highlighted the transformative journey of students from diverse backgrounds who have completed foundational and specialized training tracks. Graduates and apprentices shared powerful testimonials about their personal and professional growth throughout the program.
“I realized how important self-talk is,” said graduate Lio. “Consistently telling myself, ‘I can do this’ made a difference. If you tell yourself you can’t, then you won’t.”
Shar, who graduated with all three certificates and has proven invaluable in the DevShop, reflected: “It’s been absolutely amazing. It’s fascinating to see how much something can grow when you put your mind to it.”
“I learned I had to break things down into manageable parts,” shared Rachelle. “Making mistakes and getting errors is okay and is even celebrated; it helps you understand what you need to work on.”
“What you focus on grows. You will find what you are looking for! If you look for the positive in life, you will find it,” remarked Shayne Roy, COO of DevPipeline, during the ceremony. “We need to meet people where they are, both in terms of skills and geography.”
DevPipeline’s approach combines centuries-old apprenticeship models with modern technical education, allowing students to learn directly from experienced professionals while building practical skills. Thanks to Utah’s State and County Governments, their program has expanded to new communities, covering urban and rural initiatives. The apprenticeship bridges the gap between education and experience. DevPipeline announced new tracks for incorporating AI curriculum in developer workflows, complementing their full-stack focus. It is “Hire Education”.
“The demand for a program like DevPipeline that provides a real pathway to upward mobility is endless. We’re going to help as many of these people and communities as we can!” added Fletcher.
DevPipeline extends its sincere gratitude to its growing network of employers and government partners who are instrumental in providing opportunities for graduates and helping shape the curriculum to meet industry needs. These partnerships have created a sustainable pipeline of qualified tech talent while offering life-changing career opportunities for program participants.
“We envision a world where everyone has the opportunity to be a software developer,” states DevPipeline’s vision. “Our vision fuels our determination to break down barriers and provide accessible pathways into the software development industry for individuals from all walks of life.”
Looking ahead, DevPipeline plans to expand its reach and impact by introducing new specialized AI tracks and increasing cohort sizes to meet growing demand.
