Utah Department of Transportation News Release
CARBON COUNTY (April 28, 2025) – The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is beginning construction on a six-mile section of U.S. Highway 6 east of Wellington to preserve bridge decks, replace guardrails and place new pavement.
The contractor will begin by removing asphalt from bridge decks over the railroad tracks south of the SR-123 Junction. Motorists can expect lane shifts and one-way alternating traffic in the area
with wait times of up to 15 minutes throughout the duration of the project. Signalized alternating traffic may be necessary over the railroad bridge at night through May 6th.
11-foot width restrictions will be in place through the work zone during construction hours.
Additional bridge work immediately north of the SR-123 Junction is anticipated to begin May 12th.
Bridge repairs will be followed by paving of the six-mile highway section.
The $7.6 million dollar project should reach completion by September.
The public is encouraged to visit the UDOT Traffic website or app at udottraffic.utah.gov for current conditions and updates on construction activities.
