On Wednesday, the Spartans soccer squad traveled to Ogden to continue playing in the 3A State Championships. Coming off an overtime win against Providence Hall last week, Emery advanced to face the defending champion Ogden Tigers on the road. The Tigers came out in the first half, putting the game out of reach, to take the 8-0 win.
Emery ended the season with a 2-17 overall mark and held the No. 17 spot in the final RPI released last week.
Ogden jumped out in the first half and scored seven goals. Ogden’s defense stifled Emery and kept them off the board the entire contest. The Tigers added one more in the second half to earn the 8-0 win and move on in the tournament, ending the Spartans’ season.
This was a very young Emery team. There were just a pair of seniors on the roster, and 19 players were either freshmen or sophomores, who will be looking to come back next year and use this season as motivation to come back and start all over again in March of 2026.
