A packed parking lot highlighted the day’s festivities. On Friday, May 2, Price City welcomed its newest addition, the new Maverick Gas Station on Carbon Avenue. The new facility replaces the previous Price City Maverick locations on Main Street.

The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the occasion to christen the building’s grand opening.

“On this exciting day, we are so excited to share with you everything that Maverick has to offer,” said District Manager Crystal Porter. “From our adventurous spirit, our delicious fresh food, drinks, snacks and amazing values on fuel with our Nitro card loyalty program. Our amazing team members offer unforgettable customer service every day, and we look forward to fueling your first Adventure every day at the new Maverick location in Price.”

Speaking to Castle Country Radio, Porter shared what excited her most about the new location,” For me, personally, I love the parking. I love the space for employees and customers to enjoy.”

Looking at the interior, the District Manager stated,” I would have to say my favorite thing is probably going to be the new kitchen and the food that they’re going to have, like the pizzas. That’s probably going to be my favorite.”

This opening posed an additional challenge, as the company had to sunset its two other locations within the city while transitioning that staff to the new building. “We were managing two stores and trying to close them and opening one store with the same amount of people it took to run two stores. So it was, it was a little crazy,” said Porter. “We did have a lot of great support from our base camp. We had field merchandisers, auditors and stuff that helped close these stores and get everything going. I think it was probably a real pinch point, closing and then trying to reopen the next day.”

However, the occasion didn’t arrive without controversy, as neighbors in the nearby residential area voiced their displeasure regarding the proximity to their homes. Signs read,” Maverick & Price City $$$$$ – Before – Safety” and “Semi-trucks don’t belong in residential neighborhoods.”

Regardless, the scissors snapped, and the ribbon was cut, officially welcoming the new location to Carbon County. The new Maverick location is at 651 South Carbon Ave. in Price.
