A new artisan market is making its way to Emery County in the form of the Buckhorn Bazaar. The market – which celebrates its grand opening on Friday, May 9 – looks to celebrate creativity and connection in the community.

Misha Gordon, one of the market’s founders, joined the KOAL newsroom to discuss the venture and what attendees can expect from the bazaar.

“Our area hasn’t ever had a market geared toward handmade and homemade items,” explained Gordon of the market’s origin. “So a couple of other artisans in the area and I decided that we wanted to create something that celebrates the talents of local artists because there are so many hidden talents in our community that don’t get recognized.”

The Buckhorn Bazaar features a carefully curated selection of vendors for shoppers to explore. “We have woodworking. We have laser engraving, fiber art such as crochet and macramé, fine arts like prints and portraits, unique jewelry pieces, goodies to snack on like sourdough, cakes, cookies and so much more.”

To commemorate the market’s grand opening, the Buckhorn Bazaar has several special surprises for attendees to experience. “We are offering a free tote bag with the first purchase while supplies last. We will be doing giveaways throughout the day and Getting Our Smoke On will be there with their full menu. So people can come out and grab lunch or dinner. We also have the Route 10 band playing from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., so it is a fun-packed day.”

Following the kickoff for the Buckhorn Bazaar, Gordon explained that they hope to make the gathering a monthly occurrence: ” Our next date is set for June 20 at the Orangeville City Park again. Eventually, we plan to travel to other towns. We are currently gathering a lineup for that. So, if someone were to be interested in participating, they can email buckhornbazaar@gmail.com or find us on Facebook.”

In closing, Gordon shared,” I would just like to personally invite each and every one of you to come experience the magic. Join us in celebrating creativity and connection in our community.”

The Buckhorn Bazaar will be held on Friday, May 9, from 12 to 7 p.m. in Orangeville City Park. More information is available on the bazaar’s Facebook page.
