After going 1-1 on their first day of competition, the Dino boys’ volleyball squad was back at it at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in Orem at Utah Valley University. This contest was what playoff sports are all about; both sets were close in the best-of-three consolation round, but the Patriots edged the Dinos to take the 2-0 win, ending the season.
Carbon’s season comes to a close with an overall mark of 15-12. They went 7-5 in region play, improving on their initial season in 2024, when they ended with an 8-18 and 4-2.
Going into the contest, the Patriots were going to be a tough out for the Dinos, who went 1-3 against American Heritage in the regular season.
The first set told the crowd on hand how the match would go. Neither team gave an inch, but American Heritage claimed the 25-23 win. In set two, Carbon knew that a loss would end their season, and they pushed the Patriots as best they could, but lost the set 26-24, ending their season.
Carter Warburton collected three kills, three digs, and a block for Carbon. Charles Tima had four kills, three digs, and a service ace, and Kyler Orth earned seven digs, four kills, and a block in the loss.
Carbon will lose six players to graduation, but this is a program with a bright future, and it will continue to build on where they are today.
