The Carbon Dinos scored one run in each of the final three innings. Still, it was not enough to overcome an early deficit, as the North Sanpete Hawks completed a two-game sweep with a 4-3 win in the Super Regionals on Friday afternoon in Price.

Trailing 4-2 in the top of the seventh inning with two outs, Carbon senior Tyrus Madsen sent an RBI single down the third base line, bringing the Dinos within one. With runners on first and second, senior Kanon Childs grounded a 2-1 pitch to the shortstop, ending the potential seventh inning rally.

Senior pitcher Stockton Kennedy tossed five solid innings as the starter for the Dinos. During his time on the mound, he allowed eight hits, three earned runs, and three strikeouts. Paxton Falk worked the final inning, giving up only two hits while striking out one batter.

North Sanpete took the lead early, scoring the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. The score remained 1-0 until the Hawks plated two more runs in the fourth, taking a hefty 3-0 advantage.

Peyton Rostron pitched five innings for the Hawks, giving up five hits and one earned run. Gage Robison earned a hold despite allowing one run in a high-leverage relief appearance. Preston Madsen recorded the save as he logged the final three outs.

Tyrus Madsen was a steady source of offense for the Dinos, finishing 2-4 with two singles and an RBI. Falk finished the game 2-4. Rydge Butler and Maddex Willson each recorded one RBI.

Friday’s outcome marks the second consecutive year that Carbon’s season has ended at the hands of North Sanpete in Super Regionals. Last year, the Hawks won consecutive games after falling behind 1-0.

The Dinos conclude the 2025 season with a 10-15 overall record and an 8-6 mark in Region 12 play.
