cornhole

The cornhole bags will be flying in Castle Dale Thursday and Friday during the Coal Country Cornhole Tournament. With singles and doubles competition and divisions of all skill levels, bring the whole family and prepare for some fun.

David Adair and Thad Whiteside joined KOAL’s Drive Time Sports recently to discuss the sport’s popularity locally and across the country and their upcoming event.

“It’s all about the camaraderie,” Whiteside said when asked why he keeps returning, “The people, everyone there is just good people. You’ve got a lot of friends that you’ve met, I mean, no one hates each other there, everyone is there to have fun.”

The fun gets underway on Friday night with the “Blind Draw”, and Adair explained how that works.

“The blind draw we’re going to do Friday night at 6, and that’s just like, if there’s 20 people there, you don’t know who your partner is going to be, and it’s just a random draw, and that’s who you get.”

On Saturday, Bring Your Partner (doubles) will start at 9:00 a.m. and run until around 2:00 p.m., when the coed doubles and separate singles tournaments will begin. They will also host an “Air Mail Challenge” for $5 per ticket.

Registration prices are $25 per person for the “Blind Draw” and singles matches. Doubles and coed doubles are $50 per team, with a 100% payout, meaning the more people involved, the bigger the payout.

Getting Our Smoke On will be there with delicious food, head over and have some fun.

The tournament will take place at the Castle Dale Rec Center at 75 South 400 East.
