Wilfred “Willie” Vigil of Sunnyside, Utah passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025 in Salt Lake City after a brief illness. He was born October 18, 1946 in Taos, New Mexico.

Willie was a loving spouse, son, father, grandfather, uncle, Nino, and friend. He was a cherished member of the community and was known for many things, but mainly as an avid golfer with a positive, charismatic, and comedic nature. He was always the life of any party, with no substance needed. He had been sober for over 37 years this March, and was proud to show and let everyone know that with God and A.A. you can change the cycle. Willie was a very proud American Vietnam Veteran who honorably served in the US Army. He was also a dedicated Union Member of the United Mine Workers Local 9958. He was a proud coal miner of 25 years until the Kaiser Coal Mine closed, still attending union meetings as often as he could, up to his last days.

He was so proud of his family and will always be remembered as an outstanding provider, supportive and loving husband, amazing father, grandfather, uncle, brother, son, and Nino.

Willie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Vigil of Sunnyside; children, Rochella Vigil (Shawn), Sunnyside; Wilfred Vigil, Jr. (Cara), Salt Lake City; grandchildren, Rayme Vigil (Marissa), Sunnyside, Ashlyn Vigil (Chad), Orem, Kyla Vigil (Ethan), Salt Lake City, Willow Vigil, Salt Lake City, Parker and Stella of Tooele; and sister, Edna Arellano, Ft. Worth, TX; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Resmo, Floyd, David, Beltran, and Leroy Arellano; beloved sisters, Orla Gallegos and Margie Vigil; and in-laws, Joe and Susana Leyba.
