The Carbon boys’ basketball squad will host the First Annual Future Dinos Basketball Camp in June. The three-day camp will be split into two different age groups, and registration is now open.
Carbon coach Taylor Brower was a guest on KOAL’s Drive Time Sports to talk about the upcoming camps and what players can expect when they sign up.
“The biggest goal for me, when I have these little kid camps, I want to teach them how to play the game correctly. I want to focus on fundamentals of course, but with the way that I coach, I want them to understand that playing the game is more important than just running plays or doing whatnot. They’ve got to be able to recognize what basketball actually is, and I’m hoping that we can do that with these camps.”
The camps kick off on June 11, starting at 10:00 a.m. for grades 3-5 and concluding at 11:30 a.m. Then, at 1:00 p.m., middle school grades 6-8 will take to the floor until 3:00 p.m. all three days.
The high school boys’ basketball team will be helping with the camp, and player Caleb Sorenson came in with Coach Brower to talk about the expectations for the players.
” It’s mostly about just letting these kids comeout, having fun, learning about what Brower wants them to do and just compete with each other. We talk about knowing your role, trusting your teammates, we know what we can do, its’ just a matter of time before we figure it own and trust one another.”
Registration is open now, but spots are limited, so sign up as soon as possible. The elementary camp costs $30 per participant, and the middle school camp costs $40.
